FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHERE DO YOU FIND THE WOODS YOU USE?
We have three main sources of wood, one in California, one in Pennsylvania, and the main one in Texas. Each board is hand selected to ensure the highest quality humidor can be built.Â
We are also on the hunt at small sawmills and places that carry different wood products. Our eyes are always open and looking for any wood that will make a beautiful humidor...
WHICH HUMIFICATION SYSTEM DO YOU USE?
Good question, we use two different types. For most of the humidors we use the Boveda system. It is a great system to use, due to its ease of use. You dont have to worry about filling a tank and possibly spilling water everywhere (like I do all the time).
WHY DOES HAVENGORE SEAL THE INTEIOR OF THE HUMIDOR BEFORE THE SPANISH CEDAR LINING IS ADDED?
We take the extra step of shooting sanding sealer first and then shooting lacquer on the interior of the body of the humidor. This is done to prevent the moisture from leaching through the Spanish Cedar and wicking into the hardwood. When moisture is drawn into the hardwood it causes the joints to separate and the wood will discolor.
DO YOU USE A STAIN ON THE WOOD?
No, we shoot three to four coats of lacquer on each humidor. Our wood is selected for its grain patterns and its natural color. We want to allow the beauty and personality of each board selected come through. We want what the good Lord started to shine....
